Since the birth of the epochal Enterprise Law ten years ago, the country have been experiencing a boom in enterprise development. The enterprise incidence in Vietnam has reached 5 enterprises per 1000 in population, and is approaching the regional average of 9-10 enterprises/ 1000 people.
The growth in quantity has been obvious and has been talked much about. It is now high time that the quality of the growth be analyzed and assessed. |
Private enterprises in Vietnam are growing fast but are facing numerous hurdles |
The study “The Quality of Private Enterprises in Vietnam” will shed more light on this aspect.
The study is implemented in preparation to mark the 10th anniversary of the epochal Enterprise Law under the framework of the CIEM - UNDP Project 00047848 “Support for the Task Force on Implementation of Enterprise Law and Investment Law in Viet Nam”.
The study provides a rapid assessment on the quality of the growth in number, operational and financial performance of private enterprises, quality of labor and jobs at enterprises and various aspects which reflect the quality of private enterprises e.g. corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, etc. Through comparative analysis, the study also offers interesting findings on the quality of the private enterprises when it is compared with their counterparts in the state-owned and foreign invested sectors.
The study has been completed by Economica research team and will be made available to the public in a workshop to be organized by the CIEM – UNDP Project and the Task Force on Implementation of Enterprise Law and Investment Law in Viet Nam on 22 January 2010 at CIEM premise (68 Phan Dinh Phung, Hanoi).
